Advanced Thai Seated Massage
1 day – with Sarah Urquhart-Taylor
Nuad Bo-Rarn (Northern style ancient Thai Massage)
is a unique form of body therapy that incorporates practitioner assisted
Yoga stretching exercises, trigger point therapy, deep tissue, energy
work and acupressure to stretch muscles and release tension in joints.
Sometimes referred to as “Lazy man’s yoga”, Nuad Bo-Rarn Thai massage is
performed on a mat rather than a table, which allows for highly
effective use of the practitioner’s body weight, rather than muscular
force. Thai massage incorporates elements from many other modalities
including Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Myofascial Therapy, Neuromuscular
Therapy and structural integration.
Thai Massage is a fantastic therapy to use with sports people, or any
client who would benefit from improved flexibility. It will also give
you extra techniques to complement existing remedial massage skills. It
focuses on safe use of body weight and body mechanics for the
practitioner and allows you to give a deep, effective treatment without
straining your own body!
Advanced Thai Massage - Seated
Over the course of the day, you will learn to safely deliver a sequence of Thai Massage postures and stretches to a client in the seated position on the floor. This will cover the upper body: Back, neck and shoulders, arms and hands. You will also be shown a head and face massage using Thai acupressure points specifically chosen to help relieve the symptoms of conditions such as headaches, migraines, sinusitis and TMJ problems.
