Thai Massage - An Introduction

1 day – with Sarah Urquhart-Taylor

Sometimes referred to as “Lazy man’s yoga”, Nuad Bo-Rarn Thai massage is performed on a mat rather than a table, which allows for highly effective use of the practitioner’s body weight, rather than muscular force. Thai massage incorporates elements from many other modalities including Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Myofascial Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy and structural integration.

Thai Massage is a fantastic therapy to use with sports people, or any client who would benefit from improved flexibility. It will also give you extra techniques to complement existing remedial massage skills. It focuses on safe use of body weight and body mechanics for the practitioner and allows you to give a deep, effective treatment without straining your own body!

Introduction to Thai Massage

Over the course of the day, you will learn to massage the hands, feet, face, head and neck. Techniques will include acupressure, stretches and gentle compression movements. You will both give and receive treatment, leaving you perfectly relaxed and refreshed.
The day will provide you with the skills to give this wonderfully relaxing treatment to your family and friends.

No previous experience of massage required – open to all.

If you are a qualified therapist, it will give you some extra ideas to incorporate into your existing work. It is also an opportunity to learn more about this therapy and gain an insight into Thai culture.
